Day 11, St. Catherine
After breakfast you will be picked up from the hotel in the early afternoon to drive the Sinai to St. Catherine. You will stop in Dahob for lunch in a local restaurant. arrive at your hotel for dinner and overnight. |

Day 12, St. Catherine / CairoWake up at 3:30 AM for a down climb up the Mountain of Moses to enjoy the sunrise. It was on this mountain that Moses received the Ten Commandments. It lies south of St. Catherin’s Monastery and rises to a height of 7,497 feet. once on top, witness the most beautiful and spectacular sunrise you have ever seen.
This hike is only for people that are very fit and are experienced in hiking. Descend and have breakfast at the hotel. Visit the monastery of St. Catherine, which sits at an altitude of 5,150 feet on the reputed site of the “Burning Bush.” Commissioned by Emperor Justinian, the monastery was built between the years 527 and 565 and is named for St. Catherine, an Alexandrian martyr who died in 307. The first thing you see as you approach the monastery are the gardens surrounded by cypress trees and the monastery’s impressive walls. |
